Frequently Asked Questions

Why install solar panels for your industry?

Comply with the law

Several regulations encourage the production of renewable energy in the industrial and tertiary sectors in order to promote the energy transition. According to these requirements, an industrial building may be required to

Save money

Installing solar panels is a real financial asset. Thanks to self-consumption, the electricity produced directly powers your building and equipment, allowing you to reduce your energy bills.

Generate additional income

An industrial photovoltaic electricity producer has two options: consume and resell the surplus, or sell the entire production.

Reducing your carbon footprint

Solar energy is inexhaustible and entirely renewable, and helps reduce environmental impact. Indeed, it does not directly generate carbon dioxide, since no fuel is burned on site.

Achieving decarbonization goals

Installing solar panels allows you to actively participate in decarbonization, while controlling your energy costs and producing your own green and sustainable electricity.

Choosing the panel

What are the advantages of photovoltaics for your everyday use?

Photovoltaic roofs

suitable for existing buildings, whether they have flat or sloped roofs.

Photovoltaic shade structures

Installed in parking lots, they generate electricity while providing shade for vehicles.

Everything you need to know about photovoltaics in local authorities

The installation of photovoltaic panels requires several administrative steps to remain in compliance with the law.

  • Declaration of works to the town hall: To install solar panels as part of a renovation project, you must submit a simple form to your local town hall. You will receive a response within a few weeks to formalize your project.

  • Electrical compliance certificate: This certificate guarantees that your installation complies with safety standards. It is issued after an inspection of the photovoltaic panels. In the event of non-compliance, a follow-up inspection is required.

  • Connection request: If you wish to sell your surplus or all of your electricity production, you must submit a connection request to Enedis, the network operator. Enedis will then check that your installation complies with regulations.

Before installing solar panels on your roof or facade, you must obtain permission from your local city hall. This is done by submitting a declaration of works before the start of construction.

A building permit is required in the following cases:

  • Photovoltaic installation of more than 3 kWp on land in a protected area
  • Installation with a capacity greater than 250 kWp.

As a general rule, installing photovoltaic panels on a roof or facade does not require a building permit.

You are not required to insure your solar panel installation, although we recommend that you do. Insurance protects you against theft, vandalism, natural disasters (such as hail or storms), and broken glass.

Not all insurance policies cover the same risks. In most cases, an extension of your home insurance policy will suffice. Remember to declare your solar panels to your insurer and ask them which coverage options apply to your installation.

Unfortunately, there is little financial assistance available for installing photovoltaic panels. The most attractive option remains the self-consumption bonus, which is paid in a single installment. The amount is updated each quarter based on the installed capacity.

In addition, you can sell your surplus electricity to EDF OA (Obligation d'Achat) at a fixed rate for 20 years.

Previously very advantageous, the feed-in tariff is now €0.04/kWh, which makes maximum self-consumption more attractive. Nevertheless, feeding surplus energy into the grid remains profitable for energy that is neither consumed nor stored, for example if you do not have a battery.

Finally, certain regional subsidies may increase the profitability of your project. Contact your local town hall to find out what schemes are available in your region.
